Our Easter weekend
We had a great Easter weekend.
After church on Friday morning, we headed up to Whangarei for a couple of nights. We stayed with Rob's mum and stepdad, but we also caught up with Paul & Jo, Liv & Hamish as well as Julien (Rob's dad) and Jenni.
Rob went fishing all day Saturday with Pete & Hamish, and then Ethan got to spend an hour or two out on the boat as well. He loved it! We had fresh snapper for dinner - yum!
The kids had a fantastic time collecting feijoas, feeding the cows, chasing each other around the orchard, and watching Mr. Goose. We left Whangarei around 6pm on Sunday night, which turned out to be the best time to travel. Got home just in time to put the kids to bed and watch C.S.I. together :-)
Yesterday (Easter Monday) we took the kids to the Easter Show. Mum, Dad & Leah came with us and we had the best day! Last year Ethan was too scared to go on any rides or touch the farmyard animals, and Tyler was only a baby. But this year Ethan rode a horse, fed & patted the animals at the walk-in farmyard, rode on the Ferris Wheel with Mummy, slid on the big slide with Daddy, and went on the Merry Go Round with Nana!
As expected, both boys loved the Madagascar live show.
Tyler especially loved the farmyard ... the child has no fear!!! He was pushing & shoving the sheep if they ran away from him, he tried to "ride" one of the pigs like a horse, and he wasn't shy about saying hello to any of them! He couldn't quite manage to hold the animal food in the palm of his hand so they could eat out of it - instead he kept picking up small pieces and trying to shove it into their mouths! He had such a great time running around and chasing them all. Poor animals!
Mum got the boys a Spiderman cap each - only $5! They are really cool, I'll have to post some pics of them.
Unfortunately we didn't get the see the Circus this year - the 11.30, 12.30 and 1.30 shows were all booked out by the time we went to get our tickets.
Next year the Easter Show is going to be really fun - because Ethan will be even more confident (he is getting better & better all the time) and Tyler will be old enough to do so many more things. And I know he will not be scared of anything!

The Easter Show sounds like something my boys would love! Graham is not shy, but is a bit more cautious. Nathan sounds very similar to Tyler! :)
Ahhhh, makes me think we should have taken our girls! I didn't even think about it this year. Not sure why? Sounds like good fun though. What did it cost to get in??? Maybe we could manage it next year but I suppose we'll have to see if we won't be living up this way! Great to hear you had a fabulous weekend!
Wow...Easter Monday? That would've been nice!
I'm so happy to hear that the boys had a nice time and it sounds like Ethan is coming into his own! Yipee!
Awesome! Sounds like great fun!
